Gamecock Baseball will have some special guests at Founders Park for the Vanderbilt series. Sindarius Thornwell and Dawn Staley will be honored by throwing out the first pitch for the Gamecocks.
Thornwell, a senior for the Final Four Gamecocks, will throw the first pitch for Thursday's series opener vs the Commodores. Thornwell etched his name in USC lore by winning SEC Player of the Year and leading the Gamecocks on a historic run that culminated in the program's first Final Four appearance. He finished ranked third on the all-time scoring list at Carolina.
Staley, who just finished her ninth season at Carolina, will throw the first pitch on Saturday before the series finale. Dawn's Gamecocks just wrapped up a season that saw the Gamecocks win their fourth consecutive SEC Regular Season Championship, third consecutive SEC Tournament Championship and first ever National Championship. The National Champion Gamecocks will be honored on Sunday at 3PM at a parade on Main Street in Columbia.
Both figures have cemented their legacy at the University of South Carolina helping lead both programs to unprecedented success.
