Texas running back Johnathan Gray, the team's leading rusher, and Longhorns defensive tackle Chris Whaley will both miss the rest of the season as a result of injuries suffered during Saturday's 47-40 overtime victory over West Virginia.
Gray has an injury to his right Achilles tendon that will require surgery. He has rushed for 780 yards and four touchdowns this season. He had 56 yards on eight carries on Saturday before leaving with the injury. Gray probably will be replaced by Malcolm Brown, who has 442 yards and eight touchdowns this season.
Whaley is out with an injured knee. He has 25 tackles this season, including five for loss and two sacks. He returned an interceptions for a touchdown this season.
Desmond Jackson and redshirt freshman Hassan Ridgeway will replace Whaley.
