The Houston Texans placed linebacker Darryl Sharpton on injured reserve because of a hip injury, the Houston Chronicle reported on Tuesday.
Houston takes on the Cincinnati Bengals in the first round of the AFC playoffs on Saturday.
Sharpton was injured during Sunday's loss to the Indianapolis Colts.
He began the season on the physically-unable-to-perform list because of a quad injury and started five of the final seven regular season games.
The Texans have other injuries at linebacker. Tim Dobbins, who most likely would replace Sharpton, has an injured shoulder and Brooks Reed has a groin injury. Their playing status is not clear.
The Chronicle reported that the Texans brought in linebacker Mister Alexander to take Sharpton's roster spot.
