Butch Jones continues to do an outstanding job on the recruiting trail at Tennessee, as the first-year Volunteers head coach picked up yet another commitment from a highly sought recruit in the Class of 2014.

Brandon Powell, an explosive athlete from Deerfield Beach High School (Deerfield Beach, FL), gave a verbal pledge to the Vols on Sunday morning after attending one of Tennessee’s camps Saturday. He chose Rocky Top over offers from Auburn, North Carolina, Georgia Tech, LSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin and others.

The 5-9, 169-pounder rushed for 1,180 yards and 13 touchdowns, caught four touchdown passes and returned two punts and two kickoffs for scores in his junior campaign. He projects to be a real threat as a slot receiver because of his very good speed and the ability to make defenders miss in space. He is rated as a three-star prospect by Rivals.com and is on track to graduate in December so he can enroll at Tennessee in January.

The good news for the Vols came two days after picking up a commitment from one of the top linebackers in the Class of 2015, Florida product Cecil Cherry, and one day before adding Class of 2014 linebacker Gavin Bryant from Alabama. Bryant is the second linebacker commitment of 2014 and brings Tennessee's class back up to 16 commitments.

Earlier on Tuesday receiver Lawrence Lee decommitted from the Vols. He has a similar skill set to the talented and versatile Powell, so perhaps the Tennessee staff and Lee agreed that it would be best to part ways.
