KNOXVILLE -- Junior Jordan McRae scored 27 points, lifting Tennessee to a 64-58 upset of No. 8 Florida at Thompson-Boling Arena.
Jarnell Stokes added 8 points and 14 rebounds for the Vols (17-10, 9-6 SEC), who won their sixth straight.
Florida (22-5, 12-3 SEC) lost for the seventh time in its last eight trips to Thompson-Boling arena. Mike Rosario led Florida with 16 points and Patric Young added 15 points for the Gators.
The Gators couldn't overcome a 35-32 halftime deficit. Florida scored the first five points of the second half, taking a 37-35 lead on a pair of free-throws by Mike Rosario. But Tennessee answered with an 8-0 run, taking a 43-37 lead on a breakaway dunk from senior Kenny Hall.
Florida jumped to a quick 9-2 lead, but the Vols answered, cutting Florida's lead to 13-11 on a Josh Richardson jumper.
But Florida kept battling inside, doing a good job defensively against Stokes, who picked up his second foul with 6:03 left in the half and Florida up 24-19.
With Florida up 29-23 after a tip in from Young, the Vols closed the half strong. McRae hit a pair of 3-pointers, the second cutting Florida's lead to 32-31. Then, off a turnover by Rosario, Skylar McBee drained a 3-pointer to give Tennessee a 34-32 lead.
The Vols went into the half up 35-32, outscoring Florida 20-14 in the paint. McRae scored 17 points in the first half for Tennessee, while Young had 11 for the Gators.
