An MRI on New York Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira's wrist showed inflammation but no new tear.
Manager Joe Girardi said Teixeira, who left Saturday's game in Anaheim, Calif., and flew back to New York, received a cortisone shot. Teixeira will be re-evaluated in a couple of days.
Teixeira tore the tendon sheath in March while training for the World Baseball Classic. He missed 53 games and has accumulated only 63 at-bats before leaving Saturday night's game.
Toronto Blue Jays slugger Jose Bautista suffered a similar injury last year that ended his season prematurely.
