First baseman Mark Teixeira is expected to rejoin the New York Yankees on Monday, manager Joe Girardi said Sunday.
"We expect to see him in New York on Monday," Yankees manager Joe Girardi said. "He'll see the doctor tomorrow and see if he's cleared to play."
Teixeira has missed the past 20 games and 30 of the past 31 with a strained left calf.
He reported no problems after playing five innings in an instructional league game Saturday, leaving him ready to return for the final three games of the regular season against the Boston Red Sox.
