The Matchup
Iowa finished seventh in the Big Ten, but have won five of their last six games. They are led by First Team All-Big Ten member Peter Jok, who averaged 19.8 points per game in conference. TCU is led by Second Team All-Big 12 and All-Defensive team member Vladimir Brodziansky, who averaged 13.4 points per game while shooting 56% from the field and led the team with 2.2 blocks per game.
Rebounding could be the difference in the game. The Hawkeyes are led by Nicholas Baer, who averaged a meager 5.7 rebounds per game, while TCU is led by Kenrich "Kenny Hustle" Williams and his 9.4 boards per game. TCU has outrebounded it's opponents by 3.2 rebounds per game this season.
Both teams move the ball around to get open looks. Iowa was eighth in the NCAA with 17.5 assists per game, while TCU averaged 16.4 per game. The team that takes care of the basketball and eliminates second chances for their opponent will likely emerge victorious.
The winner of the game will advance to the quarterfinals and host the winner of No. 6 Richmond (20-12) and No. 7 Oakland (24-8) on Tuesday. TCU will be looking to return home to host a second NIT game at Schollmaier Arena.
