Plenty of drama fueled by Jonathan Drouin and others in Game 3's as part of Wednesday's Hockey Dose

Western Hockey League

Nikita Scherbak scored a goal on Saturday to extend his point streak to three games.  He leads all rookies in 14 goals and 33 points in 25 games this season.  Sam Reinhart has a goal and five points in his last three games.  That brings him up to 10 goals and 39 points in 25 contests in 2013-14.  Swift Current Broncos forward Graham Black picked up an assist on Tuesday and is now on a 12-game point streak.  He has 15 goals and 18 assists in 26 games this season.  The New Jersey Devils selected him with the 135th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.  Tristan Jarry hasn’t allowed more than two goals in a single game in 14 straight contests.  That’s helped him get his GAA down to 2.08 and raise his save percentage to .921 in 21 games.

Ontario Hockey League

Connor McDavid has slowed down since his 11-game point streak – but only slightly.  He has two goals and five assists in his last six contests.  That gives the highly regarded 16-year-old forward seven goals and 37 points in 22 games this season.  McDavid’s Erie Otters’ teammate Dane Fox had three goals and eight points last week.  He ranks second in the OHL scoring race with 43 points in 23 games.  The two are surpassed by another Otters’ player, Connor Brown.  The Toronto Maple Leafs took Brown with the 156th overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft and he has 46 points in 23 games.  Alex Fotinos was picked as the OHL Player of the Week after posting a 1.67 GAA and .951 save percentage in three victories.  He now has a 2.24 GAA and .924 save percentage in seven contests since the Windsor Spitfires acquired him from the Barrie Colts.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

Jonathan Drouin stayed hot last week by scoring four goals and 10 points in three games.  The Tampa Bay Lightning prospect has recorded at least three points in six of his last seven contests, giving him 13 goals and 39 points in 17 contests in 2013-14.  As good as Drouin has been though, there’s one QMJHL player that’s been far better.  Detroit Red Wings prospect Anthony Mantha had an assist on Saturday to extend his point streak to 13 games.  He now has 24 goals and 54 points in 23 matches with the Val d'Or Foreurs.  Defenseman Guillaume Gelinas netted three goals and recorded two assists in three contests last week.  He recorded 45 points in 68 contests last season, but he’s well on his way to surpassing that with 13 goals and 21 assists in 25 games.  Francois Brassard earned back-to-back shutouts on November 13th and 15th.  The 19-year-old goaltender, who was taken by the Ottawa Senators in the sixth round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, has a 2.97 GAA and .908 save percentage in 21 games with the Quebec Remparts.

American Hockey League

Nikita Kucherov has only been held off the scoresheet in one of his seven November games.  He leads all rookies with 13 goals and 24 points in 15 games.  Jerome Samson found the back of the net on Saturday to extend his goal scoring streak to three games.  He has six goals and nine points in 10 matches with the St. John's IceCaps in 2013-14.  Vladislav Namestnikov, 20, had his 13-point streak come to an end on Saturday.  He’s already matched his rookie season point total with 21 in just 15 games.  Namestnikov was claimed by the Tampa Bay Lightning with the 27th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.  Keith Kinkaid posted a 0.97 GAA and .963 save percentage in three starts to be named the AHL Player of the Week.  The 24-year-old Albany Devils goaltender now has a 1.97 GAA and .922 save percentage in eight contests this season.

National Collegiate Athletic Association

Freshman Daniel Tedesco scored the gam-e-winning goal for St. Cloud State in their 4-3 win over Alabama-Huntsville.  The 19-year-old forward has two goals and three points in seven games this season.  Providence goaltender Jon Gillies earned his eighth shutout of his NCAA career on Saturday in a 3-0 victory over Vermont.  Gillies, who was taken by the Calgary Flames in the third round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, has a 1.59 GAA and .949 save percentage in 10 games this season.  Also earning a shutout on Saturday was Michael Shibrowski.  The 23-year-old goaltender was participating in his first start of the season and led the University of Minnesota to a 3-0 victory versus Minnesota State-Duluth.  Jesse Root scored twice in Yale’s 5-1 win over Sacred Heart.  Root has six points and 14 penalty minutes in seven games this season.
