Martyn Hett, who appeared on Come Dine with Me and Tattoo Fixers, has been confirmed to have died after the explosion at Ariana Grande's Manchester Arena concert.

Martyn's boyfriend Russell Hayward, with whom he appeared on Come Dine with Me, shared the tragic news on Twitter.

"We got the news last night that our wonderful iconic and beautiful Martyn didn't survive. He left this world exactly how he lives, centre of attention," he wrote.

"Thankfully I have his wonderful family and amazing friends to keep each other strong. I love you Martyn. I always will."

Previously, Russell asked people to help locate Martyn, and wrote in another post: "Soulmate doesn't even come close. Come back to us Martyn so we can watch last night's Corrie together."

Elsewhere, Martyn also made headlines last year when his call for people to buy his mum's knitting products at a craft fair went viral and resulted in her stock selling out.

Martyn – a Corrie super-fan with a Deirdre Barlow tattoo on his leg – tweeted during the gig: "When you sneak out for a toilet break on the Macy Gray song and the entire arena had the same idea #DangerousWomanTour"

Coronation Street also shared a tribute to Martyn today, writing on Twitter: "Our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Coronation Street superfan Martyn Hett."

They also reposted a poignant message from screenwriter Jonathan Harvey who wrote: "RIP Hilarious on Twitter and delightful in real life @martynhett. All love to the family and friends he loved so much. We've lost a good un."

Meanwhile, Ariana has reportedly returned to her hometown in Florida, United States, following the devastating terror attack.

The singer currently has two further performances scheduled at London's O2 arena later this week, but there is no official confirmation yet as to whether the dates have been cancelled.

Following the incident on Monday night (May 22), 22 people have been confirmed dead, including children, with at least 59 others injured.

The 21,000-seater venue was hosting a stop on Ariana's Dangerous Woman Tour when the atrocity took place.

Greater Manchester Police chief constable Ian Hopkins has explained the attack was carried out by a lone man, who died at the scene.

Police have now identified the suspected bomber as 22-year-old Salman Abedi, believed to have been born in Manchester and to have been of Libyan descent.

An emergency number has been set up for those who are concerned about loved ones or anyone who may have been in the area – 0800 096 0095.
