Stony Brook rips Central Connecticut State 49-17

STONY BROOK, N.Y. (AP) -- Miguel Maysonet ran for 171 yards and two touchdowns and caught a scoring pass to lead Stony Brook to a 49-17 victory over Central Connecticut State in the season opener for both teams Saturday night.

The Seawolves jumped on top early with big plays. Central Connecticut turned the ball over at its 4-yard line on its first series, and Stony Brook's Marcus Coker scored on the next play for a 7-0 lead. Kyle Essington passed to Kevin Norrell for an 89-yard touchdown, and Maysonet ran 84 yards for a score, all in the first quarter.

It was Maysonet's sixth game with three or more touchdowns, and his 84-yard run was the longest in Stony Brook history. He averaged 10.7 yards per carry.

Stony Brook's Kyle Essington threw for 188 yards and three touchdowns.

Arnold Clement rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns for Central Connecticut.
