Steve Smith Sr. is targeting a return on Sunday. We take a look at the fantasy implications.
Editor's update: Smith is officially ACTIVE
Steve Smith Sr. didn't think he'd be playing in Week 6 when asked about it on Friday. On Sunday morning, however, ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that Smith is expected to suit up when the Baltimore Ravens face the San Francisco 49ers.
Smith is still dealing with a back injury that will likely limit him a bit on the field. Still, the Ravens are facing a 1-6 record if they lose on Sunday. Both Smith and the Ravens are hopeful Smith can at least physically handle a decent snap count, even if he can't play at his full potential.
Fantasy impact: Even if Smith isn't 100 percent, he'll have every opportunity for a healthy dose of targets while he's on the field. The 49ers are in the top-5 in fantasy points allowed to wide receivers. Smith would be a WR1 against the 49ers if he were completely healthy. He may have some issues getting separation, but that likely won't stop quarterback Joe Flacco from targeting him. Smith is more of a WR2 with upside in PPR formats. Of course, we need to wait for the team's injury report on Sunday morning for official word on his status.
