The Dallas Stars placed goalie Kari Lehtonen on the injured reserve list Sunday with a groin injury.
The move is retroactive to Friday, when Lehtonen left the game against Vancouver midway through the first period. He missed Sunday's game against Calgary and will also be ineligible to return Thursday against Vancouver. The next game he'll be able to participate in, if deemed healthy, will be Saturday against San Jose.
"He is still day-to-day, lower body," said Stars coach Glen Gulutzan. "We looked at him today, and certainly he has had that injury before in Phoenix last year, but this one is not as severe."
Lehtonen got off to a fast start with the Stars this season, posting a 7-2-1 record with a 2.12 goals against average and .934 save percentage in 12 starts.
Richard Bachman started in net Sunday against the Flames and took the loss in a 4-3 home defeat.
