INDIANAPOLIS -- Tight end Coby Fleener admits he is grateful to have experience in the Indianapolis Colts' offensive changes.
New offensive coordinator, Pep Hamilton, was the coordinator at Stanford for Fleener, quarterback Andrew Luck and wide receiver Griff Whalen.
"Thankfully for me, I've been in the offense," Fleener said. "It's been helpful. But for guys that are just coming into the offense, it's a tough one to learn. I think Andrew, Griff and I are trying our best to relay small bits of information to guys."
Coach Chuck Pagano is happy with Luck's comfort level heading into his second season.
"He's doing well, " Pagano said of Luck. "Obviously, we've talked at length about how bright the guy is. Even though we've changed some things from a system standpoint, terminology, formations, all those types of things.
"He's only a year removed from a lot of the things he's hearing again as far as Pep coming in and installing the things that we are installing offensively. I feel like he's very comfortable with where we are at this point."
With so many roster changes since the end of the 2012 season, defensive end Cory Redding's role as a leader in the locker room and on the field is taking greater significance:
"In my mind, I'm always a leader," Redding said. "That's just how I am. That's my makeup and I can't change. I just lead by example, lead vocally whenever it needs to be. But for the most part, I have fun with my teammates and I really engage everybody, have everybody feel like they're part of it."
Safety LaRon Landry, a veteran free agent pickup from the New York Jets, has not participated in the Colts' OTA sessions. Landry has been working out on his own but is expected to take part in the team's mandatory workouts next week.
The Colts' first-team offensive line during most of the OTA workouts this spring has been left tackle Anthony Castonzo, left guard Donald Thomas, center Samson Satele, right guard Mike McGlynn, and right tackle Gosder Cherilus. Rookies Khaled Holmes (center) and Hugh Thornton (guard) have also rotated in with the first group.
