Staff has double-double as Texas State wins 66-52

SAN ANTONIO -- (AP) Matt Staff scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on Saturday to spark Texas State past the University of Texas San Antonio 66-52.

Staff also had six assists for Texas State (13-15, 5-9 Southland).

He scored 17 points in the second half as Texas State pulled away after trailing 27-26 at the break.

Brooks Ybarra scored 14 points for Texas State.

Jeromie Hill scored 14 points to lead UTSA (16-13, 8-6) and Stephen Franklin had 10 points and three steals.

Texas State had a 20-18 scoring advantage in the paint and 15-6 off turnovers, but its bench was outscored 20-4.
