St. John's suspended leading scorer D'Angelo Harrison for the rest of the season for undisclosed reasons, coach Steve Lavin announced Friday.
Harrison, a sophomore guard averaging 17.8 points per game, ranked third in the Big East Conference in scoring.
The Red Storm (16-11, 8-7) are ninth in the 15-team Big East with three regular-season games remaining. They play Saturday at Providence.
"I had a productive meeting with D'Angelo yesterday," Lavin said. "He has a bright future in basketball and I'm optimistic his time away from our team will be of value."
Harrison has scored 1,025 career points in his first two seasons and had reached double figures in 13 games this year, including 36 against Villanova.
