South Carolina senior cornerback Akeem Auguste is expected to miss at least a month after aggravating a groin injury in Saturday's team scrimmage.
Auguste missed most of fall camp with a groin injury but played in the team scrimmage and re-aggravated the injury. The school said he had a "procedure" but did not offer further details. It's possible Auguste needed surgery for a sports hernia, which can carry a typical recovery time of between four and six weeks.
Auguste played only one game last season because of a foot injury. He played free safety in 2010, starting 10 games, but was needed at cornerback to compensate for the loss of 10th overall NFL draft pick Stephon Gilmore.
The Gamecocks return only one starter in the secondary, senior free safety D.J. Swearinger.
