North Carolina freshman Tony Bradley to remain in draft
North Carolina freshman Tony Bradley has decided to remain in the 2017 NBA draft and hire an agent.
Bradley, a 6-foot-11 center/forward, participated in the NBA draft combine in Chicago and team workouts over the past two weeks.
“After careful consideration, based on the feedback that I received after several NBA workouts and discussions with my family, I have decided to hire an agent in pursuit of a professional basketball career,” Bradley said in a statement to The Vertical.
“I feel incredibly prepared, but I still have a lot of work to do. I’m really excited to show everyone all that I can do. The work that I’ve been putting in, I feel confident about proving myself. What people saw me do at UNC is a lot different than what it will be at the next level. The feedback has been good. I feel good about it to stay in the draft. I got the information that I was looking for and that I needed to hear.
“I trust in my ability to play in the NBA and this is a decision that I am comfortable in making. I would like to thank coach Roy Williams, the coaching staff, my teammates at UNC and Tar Heels nation for their support and the incredible experience of winning the NCAA championship this year. “
Bradley averaged 7.1 points and 5.1 rebounds in 38 games this season for the Tar Heels, who defeated Gonzaga in the national-title game.
NBA executives believe Bradley can be a late first-round or second-round selection, and he has workouts scheduled in the coming weeks that could improve his standing.
NCAA early-entry draft candidates have until Wednesday to decide whether to remain in the draft or return to school.
