Much has been made already this spring regarding some of the on-the-field improvements Kirby Smart has seen from quarterback Jacob Eason.
But what about the work off the field?
During Thursday’s post-practice press conference, Smart was asked specifically about Eason’s film work etiquette and whether or not he’s improved in that area of his game as well.
“He’s done a much better job,” said Smart, who credited much of Eason’s film room work ethic to freshman Jake Fromm.
“I think Jake is the biggest reason because Jake is in there wanting to watch all the time,” Smart said. “If that’s the case, he’s like I’ve got to watch, too. He understands that and I think he enjoys it more, too, because he sees the value.”
As a result, Eason is getting better results on the field.
“He’s starting to get some return investment,” Smart said. “He watches (the film), he knows the coverage, he knows where to go with the ball and now he’s able to go out on the field. He sees the coverage from what he saw in the film room, boom, he makes the throw, the ball is out and the offensive line doesn’t look as bad. He’s definitely got a lot more awareness.”
