Jarrod Dyson was in center field, Lorenzo Cain was in right field and Jeff Francoeur was back on the bench Wednesday.
For the second time in three games, Kansas City Royals manager Ned Yost did not write Francoeur's name into the starting lineup.
Francoeur is hitless in his past 18 at-bats, dating to an Aug. 22 single at Tampa Bay. He batted .105 on the seven-game trip to Tampa Bay and Boston that concluded Monday.
In his past 10 games, Francoeur is just 3-for-35 (.086) with no extra-base hits and one RBI.
The prolonged slump has dropped Francoeur's average to .232 with 11 home runs and 34 RBI in 119 games.
He is hitting a paltry .194 in 103 at-bats with runners in scoring position, driving in just 18 of 132 men in scoring position. He has four extra-base hits -- two doubles and two home runs -- with runners in scoring position while striking out 26 times.
Dyson reached on a bunt single and Cain collected two hits in the Royals' 1-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night, so Francoeur might sit another day.
