The San Jose Sharks have signed forward Raffi Torres to a three-year contract that will keep him from becoming a free agent.
General manager Doug Wilson announced the signing on Thursday. Torres would've become an unrestricted free agent July 5.
Acquired from the Phoenix Coyotes at the trade deadline, Torres provided a spark with two goals and four assists in 11 regular season games, then scored an overtime goal to beat the Vancouver Canucks in the first round of the playoffs. He had expressed a desire to remain in San Jose.
