Shane Carwin Suffers Minor Knee Injury But Still Fighting Roy Nelson at TUF 16 Finale
Ultimate Fighter 16 coach Shane Carwin has suffered a minor knee injury that will prevent him from traveling on a scheduled trip to England this week, but he will still fight at The Ultimate Fighter 16 finale against Roy Nelson.
Carwin first reported the knee injury on his Twitter account saying, “ATTN UK Fans: I hurt my knee training and I will not be able to make the signing with the amazing people @FearlessUK.”
Carwin's manager Jason Genet of Ingrained Media told MMAWeekly.com that he injured the knee while in wrestling practice, but he suffered no major tears or damage to the knee.
The injury was enough for Carwin to cancel a trip to England this week for a signing, but with time to rehab and recover the former heavyweight champion should be ready in time for his Dec. 15 showdown with Roy Nelson.
Carwin has been out of action since a June 2011 loss to Junior dos Santos at UFC 131. Following that fight, the Colorado based heavyweight underwent neck surgery that put him out of action and into recovery for more than a year.
The heavyweight coach of this season The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson will continue to rehabilitate the knee at home before returning to training to prepare for his showdown with Roy Nelson in December.
