OTTAWA -- Senators rookie defenseman Cody Ceci scored his first NHL goal with 1:01 left in overtime to give Ottawa a 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues on Monday at Canadian Tire Centre.
Ceci's shot from the point slipped through a crowd in front of the net to complete a Senators rally from a 2-1 second-period deficit.
The loss snapped the Blues' winning streak at three games.
Winger Chris Stewart scored twice for St. Louis (22-6-3). Center Jean-Gabriel Pageau and winger Bobby Ryan, who also had an assist, replied for Ottawa (13-15-6).
Senators goalie Robin Lehner made 30 saves, while Blues goalie Brian Elliott kicked out 29 shots.
The Senators managed only one shot on goal during an overtime power play with Blues winger Derek Roy in the box for hooking. Blues defenseman Alex Pietrangelo made two fine blocks while the team was short-handed.
Ryan's team-leading 16th of the season at 5:44 of the third pulled the Senators even. The play exhibited the chemistry Ryan found this season with center Kyle Turris.
From the side boards, Turris sent a hard pass that just alluded the stick of a Blues defender before finding Ryan cutting in front. With one quick, fluid motion, Ryan pulled the puck to his backhand and deposited it behind Elliott.
Stewart scored goals 2:57 apart late in the second period to give the Blues a 2-1 lead. His first was off with a deke on a breakaway that he finished off by slipping the puck between Lehner's skates at the 16:50 mark. Then, with 11.5 seconds remaining until the intermission, Stewart was left unattended at the side of the Senators net, where he accepted a pass from winger Derek Roy and squeezed a shot past Lehner.
The Senators, struggling in the first period this season, were able to get off to the start they wanted against the Blues. They killed off an early penalty to gain some momentum, then took the lead when Pageau converted a setup by Ryan with a wrist shot that beat Elliott high on the glove side at 3:57.
It was the only goal of an opening 20 minutes that saw the Senators outshoot the Blues 10-7.
