Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll hinted Tuesday that wide receiver Percy Harvin may be headed to the injured reserve list and not be ready for the playoffs.
Harvin won't practice this week and will miss Sunday's regular-season fiinale against the St. Louis Rams.
All signs had been pointing to a postseason return for Harvin, who has been in the lineup for just one game this season because of a hip injury.
Carroll indicated on Tuesday that Harvin may not be back on the field until 2014.
"That may happen," Carroll said when he was asked whether the team would need to make a roster move involving Harvin.
Cornerback Walter Thurmond is eligible to return from a four-game suspension this week, so the Seahawks will need to make a roster move.
Thurmond can practice this week without being added to the 53-man roster, but a move needs to be made by Saturday for him to play in Sunday's game.
