San Francisco Giants second baseman Marco Scutaro had an MRI exam on his injured left pinkie finger Tuesday, and manager Bruce Bochy said Scutaro may not play again this season, reported.
Scutaro suffered tendon damage when he was hit by pitch on June 11, and the finger began bothering Scutaro during the weekend. He left Sunday's game after two innings.
Scutaro, 37, wants to return this season, according to the report, but Bochy said the team may tell him to shut it down and rest for next season.
The Giants only have 11 games remaining on their regular-season schedule.
Scutaro, who signed a three-year, $20 million deal with the Giants in the offseason, is hitting .297 with two home runs this season.
