Savannah Bananas coach gets ejected, grabs a mask and imitates umpire

First off, yes, the Savannah Bananas are a real baseball team. They might sound like something out of a “Scooby-Doo” plot, but they’re actually a collegiate summer team that plays in the Coastal Plain League. Basically: College baseball players hone their skills there during the summer.

The Bananas don’t take themselves too seriously, though — as you can tell by the name and their dancing first-base coach or whatever baby banana ritual this is. Further proof is what happened Thursday night when coach Sean West got ejected after a confrontation with the home-plate umpire.

Though the videos are a little shaky, it would appear that West picked up a catcher’s mask, put it on and acted out a skit making fun of the umpire and his strike zone. Here are the visuals:

The video above comes from a Bananas player, pitcher Bryan Cruse, who appears to have shot it from near the dugout and posted it to Twitter.

Yes, the Coastal Plain League is a different kind of place. And we totally want to go.
