The San Jose Earthquakes won their first game of 2014, defeating fellow Californian side Chivas USA 1-0.
The Earthquakes scored tha game's only goal in the 68th minute. Shea Salinas launched along cross through the penalty area, and it was met by Yannick Djalo, who crashed in and hit a first-time volley into the net to make it 1-0.
Chivas goalkeeper Dan Kennedy was shown a red card in the 77th minute. Kennedy Rushed out to challenge Gordon and handled the ball outside of the box after Gordon had stepped past him.
The win takes the Quakes to 1-2-3 for the season, and moves the Bay Area club off the foot of the table. Chivas is now 1-4-3, on a seven-game winless skid.
