Update: Kalish is dealing with a shoulder injury, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
Recommendation: According to manager Bobby Valentine, Kalish is "not a game-ready guy". He opened the season on the 60-day DL with a shoulder injury, and it sounds like that same issue could still be bothering him. Kalish could be in the mix for a starting corner outfield role next year, and a strong finish to the 2012 season would certainly help his chances. He's currently batting .202, and doesn't have a home run in 84 at-bats this year.
