Jose Valverde and the Arizona Diamonbacks are set for a reunion after agreeing to a minor-league deal Tuesday.
Valverde, who spent the first five years of his career with the franchise, was a closer for Arizona, Houston and Detroit. He rejoined the Tigers in late April last season but had a 5.59 ERA.
The Diamondbacks added young closer Addison Reed via trade with the Chicago White Sox on Monday.
Valverde, 35, saved 47 games for the Diamondbacks in 2007 and was traded in the offseason to the Houston Astros. He has 286 career saves and was an All-Star in 2007, 2010 and 2011.
