Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo has been suspended two games for starting a fight between his team and the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday night, the NBA announced Thursday.
"Rondo initiated everything that proceeded," referee James Capers told a pool reporter after watching a video review.
The league also fined Nets forward Gerald Wallace $35,000 and Celtics forward Kevin Garnett $25,000. The NBA said they were "escalating the altercation."
Nets forward Kris Humphries was neither fined nor suspended despite the fact that he committed the hard foul that started altercation beneath the Nets' basket.
The fight spilled into the front-row seats at TD Garden before Rondo, Humphries and Wallace were ejected.
Rondo will miss Friday's home game against the Portland Trail Blazers and Saturday's game at the Milwaukee Bucks.
