The cousin of New York Yankees third baseman Alex Rodriguez is selling his 2009 World Series ring, according to the New York Daily News.
Yuri Sucart, whom Rodriguez named as helping him use performance-enhancing drugs when he made his admission in 2009, is selling the championship ring Rodriguez gave him as a gift.
Sucart reportedly sold the diamond-studded ring to sports memorabilia collector Ken Goldin for an undisclosed amount and consigned it to Goldin Auctions in New Jersey. The ring will be auctioned Monday with an opening minimum bid of $5,000.
Goldin expects the ring to sell for up to $40,000 because it is associated with Rodriguez. However, it is not clear if it was originally Rodriguez's personal World Series ring. Goldin only said that it "is the same as the rings issued to the players on the Yankees' most recent championship team."
The Yankees banned Sucart from the team's facilities after Rodriguez's PED admission.
