The Latest: Four-star wide receiver Josh Proctor has his pick of options when it comes to schools, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that he’s taking a measured approach when it comes to his litany of options. But of the programs making it clear to Proctor that he’s a major priority in this year’s class is Texas and the Longhorns pitch has caught his attention. Rivals.com caught up with Proctor as the recent Dallas stop of the Rivals 3-Stripe Camp Series presented by adidas to talk about his recruitment.
In His Words: “Things are going well with Texas since the new staff got there. The old staff wasn’t recruiting me much at all. But when the new guys came in from Houston we already had that relationship because they had been recruiting me so when they took the job at Texas they picked it up even more and they’re recruiting me pretty hard. That interest carried over and that’s something I pay attention to because they had that belief in me before. It meant a lot. A lot of coaches really don’t do that. For them to say on me and keep looking at me meant a lot. The attention they show me is a lot stronger than other schools at this point.”
On a commitment timeline: “I’m not sure. They’ve been talking to me trying to get me to commit but I’m just taking my time.”
Rivals Reaction: There’s no doubt that Proctor is a priority and the Texas staff has done a great job of relaying that message. As he continues to take visits it will be interesting to monitor his comments. Right now Texas appears to be in the best position, but schools like Oklahoma, Ohio State and Oklahoma State are all heavily in the mix as well.
