Darien Brothers' torrid start propelled Richmond to an 81-61 victory over Charlotte, ending a three-game losing streak.
Brothers scored the first 17 points for the Spiders, emerging in a huge way from a scoring slump in conference play. He entered the game shooting 48.5 percent from beyond the arc on the season, but was 3-17 through the first three Atlantic 10 games.
By the time another Spider scored, thanks to a Cedric Lindsay layup with 9:45 to play in the first half, the score was 19-11 Richmond and Charlotte had already turned the ball over six times.
Things were going so well that, Alonzo Nelson-Ododa, who entered the game 0 for 7 from the free-throw line in conference play, made two in a row.
Junior forward Derrick Williams missed his fifth consecutive game with a sprained ankle.
