Richmond sent Old Dominion to its sixth straight defeat, controlling the game from the opening tip and cruising to an 80-53 victory Tuesday in Norfolk, Va.
Cedrick Lindsay had 19 points and seven assists to lead the Spiders (7-2) to their third consecutive victory, while Darien Brothers and Greg Robbins each had 14. Richmond's Derrick Williams, who was selected the Atlantic 10 Player of the Week on Monday, finished with eight points.
Nick Wright, with 16 points, was the only player to score in double figures for ODU (1-7), which hasn't won since a Nov. 10 victory over Morgan State. Old Dominion shot just 31.7 percent from the field (19-for-60), missed nine of its 21 free-throw attempts and had 15 turnovers.
The Spiders began the game on a 9-2 run that largely ended the suspense early. The Monarchs trailed by nine points late in the first half, but Richmond closed the half on a 9-0 run to take a 38-19 lead at the half. The Spiders made 14 of 25 field goal-attempts before the break, including five of 10 3-pointers.
It didn't get much better for Old Dominion after halftime, as the Monarchs trailed by as many as 30 points late in the game.
Richmond plays at James Madison on Saturday. Old Dominion hosts Virginia Commonwealth on Friday.
