RICHMOND, Va. -- Junior forward Derrick Williams had 21 points and eight rebounds to lead Richmond to a 76-57 victory over Stetson on Saturday at the Robins Center.
Williams made 6 of 8 field goal attempts and 9 of 10 free throws, helping the Spiders win their fifth consecutive game since being blown out at Ohio. Sophomore guard Kendall Anthony came off the bench to score 18 points and senior guard Darien Brothers had 16 for Richmond (9-2). Junior guard Chris Perez led Stetson (2-7) with 17 points.
The Spiders led 9-1 less than five minutes into the contest, but the Hatters rallied to tie the game at 19-19 with 5:10 remaining in the opening period. Anthony answered with a 3-pointer, helping the Spiders take a 28-25 lead into the locker room at halftime.
Junior forward Willie Green dunked twice in 29 seconds to help the Hatters take a 31-28 lead with 18:29 remaining in the second half, but the Spiders responded with a 13-4 run to take a 40-35 lead with 13:41 to go. The game remained close until about the 7:00 mark, when Anthony made two free throws to start a 12-2 run.
