Richmond, VA -- Kendall Anthony hit four free throws in the final 11 seconds as host Richmond ran its winning streak over Wake Forest to three with a 62-60 nonconference victory Saturday at the Robins Center.
Anthony, a 5-foot 8-inch sophomore guard, scored nine of his 11 points in the game's final 3:02 as the Spiders (6-2) won their second straight game. His last two came with five seconds remaining for a 61-58 Richmond lead.
Spiders freshman forward Derrick Williams, meanwhile, collected a game-high 26 points, going 13 of 15 from the free-throw line.
Freshmen forwards Devin Thomas and Tyler Cavanaugh scored 11 and 10 points, respectively, to pace the Demon Deacons.
Wake Forest slipped to 3-4 and has now lost two straight. The Deacons still lead the series 38-12, but the Spiders hold the recent edge since breaking a 17-game losing streak in 2010.
Richmond shot 16 of 42 from the field (38.1 percent) but compensated with free throws, hitting 24 of 28 (85.7 percent). Wake Forest hit 20 of 26 from the line.
The Spiders are at Old Dominion Tuesday while Wake Forest hosts High Point Wednesday.
