Mexico and Santos Laguna striker Oribe Peralta is set to miss out on a call-up to El Tri for the friendly Wednesday against the United States.
Reports from various media outlets quote sources close to the national team and suggest Peralta will be rested after a busy start to 2014 and with his place at the World Cup already assured
Peralta has started 11 of Santos Laguna's 12 Liga MX games so far in 2014, as well as five Copa Libertadores matches and El Tri's two friendlies.
Miguel Herrera has also hinted that goalkeeper Jesus Corona will miss out on the game, after previously stating that the Cruz Azul shot stopper would be a starter.
La Maquina coach Luis Fernando Tena asked Herrera to leave Corona out so he can feature for Cruz Azul against Tijuana in the CONCACAF Champions League semifinal first leg April 1.
Cruz Azul teammates Marco Fabian and Rogelio Chavez are expected to be in the squad, and Toluca's national team players — Alfredo Talavera, Miguel Ponce and Isaac Brizuela — are also likely to be in the team after coach Jose Cardozo indicated earlier in the week that he wouldn't stand in their way.
The Diablos Rojos are scheduled to play in the CCL on April 1 against Costa Rica's Alajuelense.
