Six cities are under consideration to host the national championship game following the 2014 season, reported.
The Jan. 12, 2015, national title game will crown the champion of the first four-team Football Bowl Subdivision playoff.
The six sites under consideration, according to the report, are the four current BCS bowls -- the Fiesta in Glendale, Ariz., Orange in Miami, Sugar in New Orleans and Rose in Pasadena, Calif. -- as well as Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.
The BCS commissioners originally planned to allow any city to submit a proposal, thus making the national title site open for bidding. But the commissioners felt the need to expedite the process for the first playoff title game.
A decision on a site is expected to be announced early next year.
The BCS commissioners may return to the plan to open the bidding to any interested cities in future years.
