Former NFL star Deion Sanders said he will be one of three head football coaches at the new charter school he started, the Dallas Morning News reported Monday.
Sanders told the Morning News he will share the head coaching job at Prime Prep Academy with former Dallas Cowboys teammates George Hegamin and Kevin Mathis.
Even though he has on-air duties with NFL Network, Sanders said he will be involved with the day-to-day coaching of the team and will be on hand for the Friday night games.
Prime Prep Academy is scheduled to begin play this fall in the University Interscholastic League as a Class 3A school.
It will play an eight-game schedule, instead of the traditional 10, and will play only one home game in its first season.
The first practice took place Monday at the school's campus in southern Dallas, and its football facilities lack many amenities found at most high schools.
