New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham underwent an MRI on his injured left knee Monday, and the results were not immediately available, according multiple media reports.
Even so, ESPN.com reported the Saints were optimistic Graham would not miss a game. New Orleans is heading into its bye week, and it returns to action Oct. 27 with a home game against the Buffalo Bills.
Graham left Sunday's game against the New England Patriots in the fourth quarter, then returned to action briefly before leaving for good. It was initially reported that he had an ankle injury.
Graham had no catches in the Saints' 30-27 loss. For the season, he has 37 receptions for 593 yards with six touchdowns.
Asked if other teams would follow the Patriots' game plan against Graham, Saints coach Sean Payton said, "If someone has (New England cornerback) Aqib Talib (they will). I said at the beginning of the week, transitionally he's (Talib) been playing very well. Strong at the line of scrimmage. Good jam and reroute guy. He's got the size. It was something we kind of expected.''
