Roy Oswalt, who signed a minor-league contract with the Colorado Rockies on May 2, is nearly ready to join the Rockies rotation.
The Denver Post reported that he is likely to make his Rockies debut on Thursday against the Nationals in Washington.
The 35-year-old Oswalt has made five starts in the minors and has a 2.16 ERA at the Double-A level. He pitched 8 1/3 shutout innings in his most recent start on Friday.
There wasn't much interest in Oswalt in the offseason after he posted a 4-3 record and a 5.80 ERA in nine starts and eight relief appearances with the Texas Rangers last season.
