Northern Illinois is expected to name its offensive coordinator, Rod Carey, as the Huskies new head coach at a news conference Sunday night, the Chicago Tribune reported.
Carey will replace Dave Doeren, who left to take the head coaching job at North Carolina State.
Carey, 41, was the Huskies offensive line coach and run game coordinator, and he took over the team's offensive coordinator duties when Mike Dunbar had to deal with an illness.
Northern Illinois went 12-1 this season and is expected to play in the Orange Bowl against Florida State.
