With 4.5 sacks in the postseason, outside linebacker Paul Kruger was vital in the Baltimore Ravens' Super Bowl run. He also saved his best play for the ideal time -- his first venture into unrestricted free agency.
The Baltimore Sun reported Tuesday that Kruger, coveted by at least three teams, including the Ravens and Colts, was close to a contract agreement with the Cleveland Browns.
Cleveland is transitioning to a 3-4 defense and the Browns don't have the pass rushing linebackers critical for making the scheme effective. Kruger was reportedly asking for a five-year contract worth between $7.5 and $10 million annually.
The Browns begin free agency Tuesday more than $47 million under the salary cap.
