Spencer Haywood was told last week he had made it into the basketball Hall of Fame, and several media outlets reported Haywood had made it.
However, Haywood was later told he had been misinformed and that he did not make the cut for inclusion in the Hall of Fame this year.
The official announcement of those who made it to the Hall of Fame will be made Monday in Atlanta, but apparently Haywood will not be among them
He was upset about the misunderstanding.
"I don't know why there was confusion," Haywood told the Las Vegas Review Journal. "Someone from the NBA told me I was in, then I found out Friday night that I wasn't in.
"This is so embarrassing. My stomach has been so bad I can't eat, I can't sleep. This isn't a punch in the stomach. It's below the stomach."
Haywood was an ABA MVP and a four-time NBA All-Star.
Rick Pitino, Gary Payton, Bernard King and Jerry Tarkanian are among those who reportedly will be announced as new Hall of Fame members on Monday.
