The Atlanta Falcons are expected to release running back Michael Turner after five seasons with the franchise, ESPN reported Friday.
Turner, 31, is due to make $6.9 million next season.
His production dropped last year when he rushed for 800 yards, averaging 3.6 yards per carry, and 10 touchdowns while sharing time with second-year running back Jacquizz Rodgers.
Turner came to the Falcons after four years with San Diego. He has 7,338 rushing yards and 66 touchdowns in 134 career games. His best season was his first in Atlanta with 1,699 yards on the ground and 17 TDs in 2008. He ran for at least 1,300 yards in 2010 and 2011.
