Report: Cowboys will release DeMarcus Ware

The Dallas Cowboys are about to make a lot of other NFL teams happy.

According to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the Cowboys will release defensive end DeMarcus Ware after the two sides could not agree to a restructured deal. The Cowboys were hoping Ware could take a pay cut to reduce the team's cap figure.

Ware missed three games in 2013 due to a quadriceps strain and he only recored 40 combined tackles, the lowest single-season total of his career. However, this was the only season in nine years that Ware missed a game.

Ware was slated to earn a $12.25 million base salary in 2014.

In February, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones told ESPN that anything could happen in these kind of situations. Though the Cowboys want Ware back, nothing's guaranteed.

“There’s no question when you are where we are on the cap, even though we’ve had some new cap space added, and you have a defensive player that’s your highest paid defensive player, and he hasn’t been on the field much the last two years, that has to be considered,” Jones told ESPN. “You can’t have it all.”
