Arizona Cardinals defensive tackle Darnell Dockett is likely to face disciplinary action from the team after an incident between Dockett and teammate Kerry Rhodes during Sunday's game against the Jets, KTAR radio in Arizona reported.
Dockett spit in Rhodes' face during the game, according to ProFootballTalk.com.
The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter. The Cardinals were behind 7-6 and the Jets had the ball, but the Cardinals' defense planned to let the Jets score a touchdown. That would have made the score 14-6 and given the Cardinals time to tie the score with a touchdown and two-point conversion.
But, according to a report by ProFootballTalk.com, Dockett didn't want to let the Jets score. Rhodes was trying to persuade Dockett to go along with the plan when Dockett spit at Rhodes.
Coach Ken Whisenhunt was asked about the report on KTAR radio.
"We prefer to keep internal matters within the team and not discuss them publicly," Whisenhunt said.
