Former New York Rangers coach John Tortorella is expected to be named the new head coach of the Vancouver Canucks, ESPN.com reported on Friday.
Tortorella and the Canucks are still negotiating a contract, which is why the deal has not yet been completed.
The Winnipeg Free Press reported earlier that Tortorella had been offered the Canucks job.
Tortorella was fired as the Rangers coach after they were eliminated from the playoffs.
The Canucks recently fired Alain Vigneault, who took the Rangers job.
The Canucks are the only NHL team without a coach.
