The Cleveland Browns said Thursday night they are actively shopping quarterback Colt McCoy after drafting Brandon Weeden with the 22nd overall pick in the NFL Draft.
General Manager Tom Heckert said Weeden was drafted to be the starter and the organization would discuss trading Colt McCoy today, according to the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.
"Eventually (Weeden's) going to be a starter for us," Heckert said. "That's what we draft him for."
The Browns began overhauling their offense Thursday when the moved up to the No. 3 pick and drafted Alabama running back Trent Richardson. They took Weeden from Oklahoma State 19 picks later.
"We think he's going to project into being an outstanding NFL quarterback and we were able to see that in the way he competed in college," Browns coach Pat Schumur said. "We felt he was going to make us and the position better."
