Remember these G-Day Numbers?

Dave McMahon, Staff
GA Varsity

G-Day is this Saturday and fans of the Red and Black are excited. There won't be a concert by Ludacris this year, but thousands of us will hopefully get some of our questions about the team answered. The key word is some.

While I enjoy football any time of year, the game scares me. If the offense does great, I start to panic about the defense. If the defense does great, I start to panic about the offense. The special teams questions are never answered and I always pray for no injuries.

While we might see some of the stars out there, they might not be out there for long (which is fine with me). I do enjoy watching some of the players we don't see that often get a chance to play as well as checking out some of the new players who were red-shirted or are early enrollees.

G-Day for the most part is for those kinds of players. If you look at this list of G-Day leaders over the last five seasons, many of them did not see too much action that following fall. But it does bring some good memories. Who can forget 5'7" Johnny Brown running for a 73-yard touchdown in 1999?

Last 5 G-Days

So for every Chris Conley, Tavarres King or Malcolm Mitchell whose big spring that led into big falls, Georgia also had big days from Clay Johnson and Kyle Karempelis. Heck, even Uriah LeMay scored a touchdown in one of these games. Now each one of these Bulldogs deserves credit. It takes dedication and a lot of heart to go out there and they are damn good dawgs... they just sometimes get lost in the fall.
